Museum collection features over 10,000 pieces of art but only a small fraction are on display. Having visited dozens of art museums around the country this is not one of my favorites. It is well worth a quick visit given that it is free but the current exhibits were not very notable.
Price: free though there is fee for traveling exhibits
Parking: free ample parking
Duration: 1hour

Unless you are a bit fan of Robert Peterson the $12 exhibit of his art is not worth the admission price in my opinion.

The museum had some art to see with even the permanent exhibitions changing every once in the while to entice people to return. Although the special exhibition costs $12 (free with valid student ID or membership, and people under the age of 18), the art was engaging to look at but the price could be lowered by a bit.

I had a day to spend in town so I decided to visit the art museum!

It was absolutely lovely. I really enjoyed my trip. The museum is on the smaller side but the space is used incredibly well. They obviously are very conscious of their room and the small gallery displays were excellently curated.

I especially loved the exhibit on Signs and the museum's focus on the American experience. It was presented thoughtfully and thoroughly. I would definitely recommend stopping in for a visit here. Admission was free except for the temporary exhibit, which was $12. 3-4 hours gave me enough time to enjoy everything.

This is always a good choice when visiting Wichita. They have a revolving main exhibit, and the regular exhibits are free. They have some lovely chihuly glass, which you can walk over. Fun!

Such a great museum! 2 floors of exhibits, large play area for kids.
Staff was friendly and there was a variety of different art, from local and world famous artists.
Make sure you stop by the gift shop!

Modern venue that feels upscale during an event! The seating arrangement was a great setup for a jazz concert during the 2024 Wichita Jazz Festival. The cafe feels so fancy with the chic furniture and tall windows with a great view. The sculptures catch your eye over and over. Worth a visit!

I believe this museum has great potential to offer a memorable experience, but it is unfortunately overshadowed by the behavior of the staff. The art layout itself is impressive and well-curated, but my visits have been marred by unnecessary attention from security and staff. On each of my three trips, I was followed around as though I were suspected of theft. It's difficult to understand why this would happen when the artwork is securely mounted on the walls. It’s disappointing, as the experience could be much more enjoyable if staff focused on creating a welcoming environment rather than making guests feel uncomfortable. I hope the museum addresses this issue, as it could significantly enhance the overall visitor experience.
