If you are lonely and looking for a great way to meet people in the city, I always recommend trying a Drop-in Session with Sponty. That's how I started, and It's lead to two plus years of meeting kind, welcoming people and finding a place in the chaos of improv. Sophie does an excellent job keeping the space open and inclusive, but fun and entertaining at the same time. Come, Push your limits. Come in and be silly, forget the world for a little bit.

I've been going to Spontaneity since November 2024. It started with one Monday night drop in, and I was hooked. I'm currently taking the 101 course, and I can't imagine not having this home away from home in my life.

It's an extremely supportive, fun, and experimental place, where you can feel like a kid again! There have been multiple occasions where I have left the building laughing harder than I have in years, and I've even amazed myself by how much I've progressed since I started.

Thank you, Sophie for all that you do. Thank you for creating a safe place for us improv nerds to have a place to play and perform!!!! It's an incredible place!

First of all, come to Rox Live every Thursday at 7:30pm to laugh until your face hurts. Then, you’ll be so impressed you’ll be wondering, « how can I be a part of this magic? » This is how I started, then I attended one drop-in class and now I’m hooked. If you haven’t done Improv before or it’s been a long time, this a welcoming environment with incredible coaches, performers. The vibe is supportive and they also offer a variety of ways to participate, from drop-ins to classes to workshops and performance teams, there are so many ways to explore different types of improv and get out of your comfort zone and be silly! Come to drop ins, your inner child will thank you! ❤️

Spontaneity Improv Company is a treasure just waiting for more people to find it. Sophie (the owner) and the course leaders I've worked with are incredibly welcoming and have an amazing ability to make you feel like you are EXACTLY where you were always meant to be!

It's true that I've done a bit of improv in the past, so I had a good idea of what to expect, but I can honestly attest that even my course-mates with no prior experience felt exactly the same. (We talked about it a lot! 😂)

I've personally taken a weekly course and participated in a half-day workshop and I can't wait to sign up for more... seriously, I was hooked in my first 5 mins! (I'm going to start by joining some of the Monday evening drop-in sessions to practice what I've learned so far.)

This week, I also went to see one of their shows -- it was the improv musical that they present on the first Thursday of each month -- and now that I know how good (and funny!) their shows are, I need to start clearing my calendar so I can go to more!

In summary... this is an awesomely talented group of people who are welcoming to everyone. So whether you're thinking about seeing a show or signing up to take a class, I HIGHLY recommend the Spontaneity Improv Company!

I joined a 101 class for adults at Spontaneity last January, wanting to try something new, push my comfort zone, and meet new people. As someone with mobility issues, I'm often nervous about new spaces and groups, but those worries melted away quickly at Spontaneity. Sophie's communication was warm, inclusive, and can-do from the start. Not only have I learned a ton and strengthened my flexibility and adaptability "muscles" -- I've also lessened my stage fright and gained an incredible community of fellow improvisers who are now friends.
