The most uncomfortable we've ever been in an art shop was here. A small place with very little possibilities to try pencils/supplies that you want to buy, most of them "available to try on request" haha. Very little selection anyway.

The young lady behind the counter neurotically blurted out something every time we would look in her direction (as Loads of supplies are behind the counter only). We have been to many many art shops in every city we visit and this was depressing and left us disappointed.
The joy of trying things and enjoying the product you want to buy got murdered by very bad vibes. As an artist you want to test, touch, feel it in your hand on paper. No thank you i don't dare to ask the unpleasant lady at the desk for 4 different neocolours to test.
Much better places in Edinburgh.

Outstanding art suppliers. There are two branches in Edinburgh, and both share the same qualities of excellent stock and truly great staff. They are knowledgeable and helpful and always take time to help you

I had such a wonderful experience here. I was helped by a young man who’s name I unfortunately don’t recall although he helped me with watercolours and gave me some tips because I’m just starting out. He was so lovely and helpful and deserves a shout out! Prices were great and student discounts were on point. Couldn’t be happier!

Cute but pricy for what it is. Customer service Meh.

*update* i was being very short, however let me just say i am a stationery enthusiastic and value good art tools. when i visited this store, i was really excited and was not greeted by the member of staff. i initiated a conversation and asked about paper quality, i bought some envelopes with very small student discount. the service was just disappointing. i love little independent stores, however this one, due to the staff, had no charm at all. and for this reason, selling expensive items, for example selling envelopes and matching cards at separate price, i find i would not recommend it to anyone.

I was looking for white pen or similar to add tiny highlights to my sketches. The shop rep was very helpful indeed though I had to disagree about the effectiveness on a graphite pencil drawing of the white gel pen.. hopeless. I think the staff are a bit shy, that's all - commenting on someone else's post here- they want to please and are also perhaps wary of The Bug! But my impression was of a great wee shop considering how little space there is. They do cram in a lot and they try to help if you ask.
