This is for sure one of my favorite spots in the city. The staff is very welcoming and they genuinely want to help you find the best tools and materials for your project. They have great prices and a punch card system! As someone who loves a tactile experience (i.e. knitting) I do love being able to see the card punched.

I also love how wide open and bright the space is - I look forward to the craft nights on the weeks I'm free to attend them. If you're looking to start knitting or crocheting, or want to be part of a fun and relaxed fiber arts community, Firefly is a must visit.

I’ve been going to Firefly for almost 5 years now, and it’s truly my happy place in the city! The owners and staff are always so helpful, the yarn selection is beautifully curated at a variety of price points, and the instruction for both the online and in person classes is excellent. I went from just re-learning how to knit to enjoying making sweaters and picking up crochet from their classes. Couldn’t recommend this spot more!

I am very fond of this shop. I love the dynamic of the team and their wealth of knowledge. They never make you feel silly for asking a question.

The new space is wonderful, bright and conducive to creativity.

I quickly became a regular at the weekly “Makers Night” every Friday 6-8pm. It is a delightful mix of folks from every facet of life. I love seeing new knitters working right along side super experienced knitters, crocheters, and even spinners.

With such a diverse group of folks, we get into some very entertaining and at times scandalous conversations. It is a wonderful sense of community.

Come check it out!

new to crochet. I didn’t get their name but the person who helped me was very kind and clearly explained to me the differences between the yarns and what I might need to set up. I walked out with a beginner crochet set and am very excited to begin! Thank you :~)

So happy to have found this place! I've been probably 10 times in the last 6 months as I've started to invest in better quality yarn for my projects. Such a lovely selection and staff have generally been super helpful, recommending types of yarn for different projects, helping me select knitting needles, etc. They've always been willing to talk to me and answer questions. Definitely recommend!

So...my daughter told me about the pop-up at 53rd & Hyde Park.

I walked in behind two white ladies who were greeted warmly.

The owner, looked back at my headwrap, assumed I was Muslim, gave me a cold stare and immediately turned her back.

I "assured " her I wasn't Muslim.

She gave me a bogus excuse for her reprehensible behavior, but it was too late.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression...

Decided to stop by since I've never been in a yarn shop, looking around touching yarn. When one the employees follows me and stands in the corner looking at me, felt like she was making sure I didn't steal anything since she never said hi or can I help you, was going to buy yarn but the behavior made me feel uncomfortable. Other than the other employee was super sweet and they do have a good selection of colors and yarn

I visited Firefly Fiber Arts Studio last weekend to take advantage of their “Intro to Crochet” class. I purchased a class voucher as well as a beginners kit through their Indiegogo campaign before they had opened and have been looking forward to learning how to crochet. When walking into the store you are introduced to their retail space, which offers a plethora of yarns in varying colors and textures, and welcomed by their friendly staff. The class is held in a private room towards the back of the store. This particular time slot (Saturday from 2-3:00 pm) is led by the co-owner of the store, Sarah. With the classes being very new, the size was small which was excellent for me. Mainly because I got a lot of one on one time. (Three days later I am half way through my first scarf project). I was very happy with the class overall and the atmosphere in the store itself was calm and pleasant. You can even hang out in their lounge space to work on your projects after class. That staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. I loved the selection of yarns available, which is all organic/vegan/sustainable, and will definitely be back to stock up on material for my next project!
