I was pretty happy with my experience at Aveda. They easily booked me in and listened to what I wanted. Although it's students, there are plenty of teachers walking around checking their work to make sure everything is done well and safely. I love my new purple hair!

I understand getting what you paid for, but a haircut here is just as (if not more) expensive than a Great Clips and they would’ve done a better job. I got a simple one length bob and at the end I had to point out several areas where it wasn’t even and still came home to find this mess of a cut. And this was after the cut being inspected by an “educator”. I also got my hair dyed, which was mostly fine except that gal gave zero crap about getting dye all over my face, including at one point POKING ME IN THE EYE with the dye brush and not even realizing it until I started wiping the dye off of my eye. She did apologize for that and said “oh we can just get it off with color remover later” as if it’s totally fine to just let hair dye sit on your face for an hour. And as you can see, she still didn’t get all the dye off my skin. At the beginning of my appointment the gal working on me and another student were complaining about how someone was coming in later that day for the third time to fix a bad service job, soooo, clearly this isn’t a new problem. Taylor was nice enough but should not be working on customers yet, and possibly shouldn’t be working on live humans yet. If this is a student that has passed tests to be deemed qualified to work on customers, I think maybe the Aveda quality is going down.

This place has really gone downhill. I cannot say one positive thing about this place. I received one of the worst haircuts EVER even after telling my stylist that my bangs are hard to cut because I have a widows peak and best to cut them dry. Needless to say she didn't listen and cut them wet and now I look Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber. The stations are too close to each other and you feel the blow dryer from the next stylist on you at times. Also the stylist on the other side was sleeping at the table. These students look like homeless people the way they are dressed NOTHING like the other Aveda Institutes I have been to. No educator came around until my stylist needed help in trying to correct my bangs that she had cut too short. I would NOT recommend this Aveda Institute at all.

Just remember it's a big risk, and you will pay for it whether your hair was burned off or not. I left my number for the manager to call me so I could express my concerns because the person who did my hair had been in training for 10 months and was set to graduate in 2.5 months. She is nowhere near being ready to work on a real client. They never bothered to reach out.

Needless to say, I will not take the risk on my beautiful hair again, but perhaps they can't screw up a facial or a massage, correct?

Well, I took a risk and it back fired. I will begin by saying staff and students were very kind and welcoming. My haircut was 1 star, but I gave 3 stars because everyone else I saw walking out of there was walking out with perfectly presentable hair. I think I just got unlucky. So, if you want to take the risk I would monitor your student throughout and give constant feedback. I could not monitor throughout because I took my glasses off so they wouldn't be in the way...mistake number 1. I'd also advocate for the instructor to be there for the beginning of the haircut, sometime in the middle, and towards the end. In my experience, there was very little supervision for my student. Someone came by after the initial consultation to confirm the plan and at the very end when the damage was done. I asked for a trim, and for my grown out curtain bangs to be cleaned up to be "face framing pieces". I said several times I was growing out my hair, I just wanted it to look healthy. I also agreed to "some long layers" when the student suggested them. I came out with a mullet-y, midwestern Karen shag type hair cut. I am expecting an Amazon shipment of headbands and head scarves soon. Claw clips and bobby pins are now my best friends. I'm taking this as an opportunity to invest in some cute hats. I'm not sure if the student misunderstood my wishes and gave me this cut on purpose, or if she made a mistake and had to pivot. At no point did she indicate she made a mistake or needed support from an instructor. My theory is she made a mistake somewhere along the way and had to cut shorter and shorter. Not a bad place to go, just know there are risks and you need to speak up more than you typically would!

Had a fab hair day at the Aveda Institute, Arlington! Haven, my hair specialist(student) made the whole experience heavenly!! She was knowledgeable and a delight to work with. Right from the get go, she was attentive and made sure all my requests were addressed. Everyone around were also friendly and supportive which made it a very relaxed session. Shout out to the teacher as well who was making sure her students were bringing their A-game!!! Absolutely love how my hair turned out!!!

As a mother of five daughters, finding a salon that can consistently meet the needs of all my girls is a challenge, but this place has been an absolute gem. We've been coming here for over five years, and every single visit has been a fantastic experience. The stylists are not only highly skilled but also incredibly patient and understanding, taking the time to ensure each of my daughters feels comfortable and valued. They listen carefully to what each of them wants and always deliver beautiful results that make my girls feel confident and happy. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a place we genuinely look forward to visiting as a family. It's not easy to find a salon where everyone leaves smiling, but here, we always do. I couldn't be more pleased with the care and attention we receive, and I highly recommend this salon to any family looking for exceptional service.

After six years, I returned to Aveda tonight (first time at this location) and was impressed by the professionalism, care, skill set, and kindness. From the staff at the front desk to the instructor to Amanda - they were showcasing the best of the best… Thank you!

For almost 20 years I’ve been patronizing institutions like this (e.g., Aveda, Paul Mitchell) throughout the country depending on where I was living/working for my hair care. Today was one of the best experiences I’ve had! Hence, I highly recommend if you’re in the area and need some hair care and want to support those in training yet provide incredible experiences and delivery…)
